eating mcdonald's for lunch

there isn't much to report in the life of pinky mcg recently.  i've been really sick for the last 5 days which means my brain hasn't been working to its fullest capacity.  instead my life has revolved around cold medicine, cough drops, fruit popsicles and blowing my nose.  i really hate being sick primarily because there isn't anyone around to hear me whine.  all adult sophistication is thrown out the window when i'm sick.  i'm allowed to be crabby, demanding and a big old whiner.  only problem is that no one is around to cater to me when i'm sick.  instead i have to take care of myself.  buy medicine by myself.  get myself to the doctor by myself.  administer a thermometer by myself.  etc. etc.

today i went to the doctor who gave me the magic z-pak and cough medicine.  then i went into work.  and now i'm eating a cheeseburger from mcdonald's because my assistant so graciously offered to pick up lunch for me.  finally someone to cater to my illness demands.  sometimes that's all it takes.

sometimes you just have to ask

i mentioned in my it's january post that i have serious steam flowing from both of my radiators  the condensation it has been creating has turned into a sheet of ice because of the freezing temperatures.  on wednesday morning i had enough because i literally slept in a ball to try to stay warm all night.  finally decided enough was enough so i emailed my apartment building super.  he came over around 8pm to take a look at the issue.  saw the problem.  pulled out some pliers.  adjusted the levers on each radiator.  steam stopped but heat continued.

this little moment of clarity taught me that it is always a good idea to ask.  as my grandma jewel taught me "all they/he/she can say is no".  thank you mr. super for coming quickly so i didn't have another freezing cold, sleeping in a ball, ice on my windows night.

this week's simple moments

1.  took me almost 2 hours to de-decorate my christmas tree.  apparently i did a little to good of a job wrapping lights in the tree.
2.  sitting at home on my couch with the television only leads to one thing - copious amounts of online shopping.
3.  i really want all holiday tourists to just send the city of new york a check instead of physically taking up space in rockefeller center
4.  57 degrees on a saturday in january ('nuff said)
5.  a hovering helicopter woke me up at 5am and didn't stop hovering over neighborhood until almost 6am.  welcome to new york.

a little something different

bored and wanted to continue my streak of midnight bedtimes for the week = a new blog layout for you all to judge.  do we like?  do we not like?  do you miss the extraneous items of previous blog like twitter updates, wish list and current obsessions?  am i just trying to be too hip and fancy?

you have the power my friends and family.  and since each of you know i don't give up the power easily or with grace, now is your time to strike while the iron is hot.

it's january

the temperature was a high of about 22 degrees the last two days.  my radiators produce lots of steam which causes condensation on the interior of my bedroom windows.  that condensation than freezes to include a layer of ice all over my very large windows.  last night, i slept in sweat bottoms, long sleeved t-shirt, BYU hoodie sweatshirt and socks.

thank goodness for the birthday celebration for netter taking place in florida exactly a week from today.

not a fan of january...
